About | ThreadEd

We celebrate the changing seasons with beautiful sewing patterns, kits, and workshops.

I’ve always been creative and have drawn and made things since I was small.  However, I didn’t start sewing until I was in my twenties.  I grew up and live in West Sussex with my husband and son.  My professional life has always been in marketing, however, not always hands on enough, I needed to find another outlet for my creativity.

Once I started my family, I focused on furnishing my home and making homemade toys for my son such as teddies, cot mobiles and quilts for my babies’ room.  Inspiration for designing my patterns comes from many places.  As I’m lucky enough to live in the country I love the changing of the seasons and try to replicate them in textile form.  I am also inspired by books from my childhood and illustrations from Enid Blyton and Molly Brett.  Vintage cards, posters and botanical illustrations are also a good source of inspiration.

My work consists of pieces that involve fabric and more recently I launched ThreadED with a series of heirloom seasonal wreath designs made from wool felt.  Also included are dolls with a seasonal theme.  I create patterns and kits from my designs at home in my study.  I will where possible use recycled fabrics and love the quality of using timeless Liberty of london fabrics, the softest wool felt and recycled wool and cashmere jumpers.  I try to feature as many details as possible, embellishing with old buttons and ribbons, ric rac, yarn, vintage trims, and old mother of pearl buttons.

I love to share these patterns with you to make yourself.  I hope you will share with me your makes on Instagram.

Behind the scenes, Claire from Thread-Ed

Please note that my pieces are decorative items only and are not suitable for children or babies.
